Tokyo MOU | Annual Report on Port State Control, 2021

On May 3rd, 2022, the Tokyo Memorandum of Understanding (Tokyo MOU) has released its Annual Report on Port State Control (PSC) in the Asia-Pacific Region for the year of 2021. This annual report is the twenty-seventh issue and covers port State control activities and developments in the 2021 calendar year.
22,730 inspections, involving 14,951 individual ships, were carried out on ships registered under 97 flags, of which the 16.40% were performed remotely. Tokyo MOU informed total of 11,567 deficiencies, however, since the total number of individual ships operating in the region was estimated at 26,157, the inspection rate in the region was approximately 57% in 2021.
